Current Sip & Sew Project:
French Knickers
-
Make a pair of French knickers - relaxed, beautifully constructed shorts-style lingerie with a little old-school glamour.
This is garment sewing without the intimidation.
You'll work through a real wearable project while learning how a garment comes together from fabric pieces to finished piece. We prepare the materials and guide you through the construction so you can concentrate on sewing, understanding the process, and enjoying the evening.
Plan on approximately 2½ hours of sewing. We recommend allowing up to three hours so nobody has to rush the finishing touches - or the wine.
Minimum 3 makers required for the session to run.
-
Depending on the project, Sip & Sew introduces practical sewing skills through making rather than exercises.
For the French Knickers workshop, you'll work with:
Straight seams and seam allowance
Basic garment construction
Working from prepared pattern pieces
Assembly order - understanding what gets sewn when, and why
Clean finishing techniques
Elastic and garment finishing
You don't need to arrive knowing how to do any of it.
That's why you're coming.
-
We make this easy.
Your session includes:
Fabric and project materials
Thread and basic notions
Sewing machines
Cutting and sewing tools
Professional instruction
Use of our fully equipped studio
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you'd rather learn on yours.
Bring your beverage. We handle the sewing part.
-
Sip & Sew works equally well as a night out with friends or something you decide to do entirely for yourself.
You do not need to arrive with a group.
Our sessions are intentionally small, which means plenty of individual instruction without turning the evening into a formal sewing lesson.
Good conversation is encouraged.
Perfection is not required.
-
You're fine.
Our beginner-friendly Sip & Sew sessions are designed so someone who has never sewn can participate. We'll show you how to control your speed, sew a seam, and work through the construction step by step.
If you already know how to sew, you'll simply move faster and have more time to refine your finish.
For workshops that require previous sewing experience, we will clearly say so in the class description before you register.

Why an Adult Sip & Sew Is Actually a Brilliant Idea?
-
✽
You get to slow down and use your hands. Sewing is tactile, grounding, and oddly therapeutic—it pulls you out of your head and into the moment.
-
✽
You make something real and wearable. Not a craft that lives in a drawer. French knickers you’ll want to wear—beautiful, functional. Satisfying to say “I made these.”
-
✽
You learn (or relearn) grown-up skills without pressure. Machine basics, clean seams, construction logic—no rush, no grades, no perfection police.
-
✽
It’s creative without being overwhelming. The structure is there, the decisions are fun. Enough freedom to feel expressive, enough guidance to keep it smooth.
-
✽
You sharpen coordination and focus—without it feeling like work. It builds confidence in a quiet, sneaky way. You walk out taller. Slightly smug. Deservedly so.
-
✽
Add wine, good company, and a little irreverence. It’s not a class where you whisper and stress. It’s relaxed, social, and a little rebellious—because yes, you spent your evening sewing lingerie.
