A Fashion Design School Experience for Young Designers
Sew Dandelions offers a structured fashion education pathway for students who want to move beyond basic sewing. Through garment construction, draping, illustration, and design thinking, students begin to understand how fashion is developed in professional studios while bringing their own creative ideas to life.
The Construction & Design Lab represents the most advanced level of this youth fashion program, offering serious young designers the opportunity to deepen their technical skills while gaining insight into the broader fashion industry.

The Construction & Design Lab is the highest level of study within the Sew Dandelions youngest sewer/designer program.
Students move beyond project-based sewing into fashion-focused training, and are expected to think critically.

This program is designed for students who are already confident and independent at the sewing machine.
Students in this lab are expected to think through (age-appropriate) construction problems, experiment with solutions, and work with increasing independence.

Fashion Studio For Kids:
Where Design Meets Entrepreneurship
A 4-week course designed for children who want to explore fashion design and garment construction in a professional studio environment. Each designer develops their own ideas and project, learns new techniques, and progresses at their own pace.

How it works
Ages 8–13

90-minute classes
Register in 4-week sessions
Re-register every four weeks to continue existing project or develop new projects
Class WILL run with just one student.

This is an beginner + / intermediate-level program intended for students ages 8-13, who are already comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to work more independently. Before enrolling, students should have completed:
An additional 6 hours of sewing instruction (or equivalent sewing experience)
Fashion Illustration, which provides the design foundation used throughout this program
Students who meet these prerequisites will be able to spend their studio time designing, problem-solving, and developing their technical sewing skills, rather than learning basic machine operation.

There are no identical projects here. Ever.
One student may be creating a Victorian-inspired tunic while another is developing a handbag collection, draping a cocktail dress, or perfecting invisible zippers. Everyone learns together, but every designer follows their own creative path.
A fashion studio for young designers who love to create.
This ongoing program is designed for children who want to explore fashion design and garment construction in a professional studio environment. Instead of everyone making the same project, each designer develops their own ideas, learns new techniques, and progresses at their own pace.
The goal isn't to finish a prescribed project—it's to think like a designer from concept to end product, and to work shoulder to shoulder with other young designers.

Working in a small group of just five students, children sketch collections, build mood boards, drape on mannequins, experiment with fabrics, design accessories, learn sewing techniques, and construct original garments. Every project is unique.
Designers get to sew, drape, millinery, textiles, embroidery, accessories, or even make concept shoe prototypes—without feeling constrained. We encourage to venture outside of the box.
Inspired by a Montessori-style approach, students are trusted to make creative decisions, solve problems independently, and build technical skills through hands-on exploration. Finished projects aren't limited by a class schedule—unfinished work can simply continue during a future session.
It’s not the project that’s important, it’s the journey from start to finish.

Yes. Drop-off is absolutely fine. Please be prompt for pick-up.

Yes. You’re welcome to relax in our Parlor while class is in session.
If you’d prefer to sew alongside your child, you can also book a private two-person session and participate together. Yay!

A water bottle. They always ask for water. No food during sewing sessions, however. Water is allowed in a closed water bottle.
If they have a favorite pair of scissors or a personal sewing kit they love, they’re welcome to bring it — but it’s not required.

No. We are a fully stocked studio with machines and tools ready to go.
If your child has a machine they’d like to learn on, they may bring it. We’ll help them set it up properly.

No. We have a large assortment of fun, kid-friendly fabrics available.
If they’re working on something very specific and want to bring their own fabric, that’s welcome too.

If a group class runs with just one student, they receive a private lesson for the group rate. Win-win.
The owner is the instructor. Always. Your child is in experienced hands.

For safety.
We may lock the building entry door or the studio door if we are not expecting additional arrivals. When younger children are in session, we sometimes secure the building so they can move to the bathroom alone. Bathrooms are located in the hallway of the building.
If the door is locked, simply ring the doorbell by the parking lot entrance or the studio door inside the building. It’s quick, easy, and ensures your child’s safety.
Your child’s safety and comfort are our priority. Classes are small, structured, and led by the studio owner, Dominique.
Entry doors may be secured during sessions, and students are supervised at all times.
